Philippe Speaking on Panel focusing on Deep Sea Exploration at Aspen Ideas Festival

Deep Sea Exploration
We know little about the two thirds of our planet's surface that is covered in water. In fact, we know less about the surface of our own planet than we do about the surface of Mars, Venus or Mercury. The deep seafloor continues to surprise for the few who venture down there, physically or with scientific instrumentation. How do we learn from our past experiences to better conserve, treasure and make use of the oceans as a resource and prevent damage from pollution and extractive activities? Underwater robots / sensing drones (for tracking oil spills, wildlife, acidification), twilight reefs.
